Queen Sofía of Spain has arrived in Paris to support Spain’s Olympic journey and witnessed one of Spain’s greatest Olympic victories.
Earlier in August, Queen Sofía was with King Felipe, Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor, and Infanta Sofia in Mallorca, enjoying day trips out and dinners as a family. However, she is now in Paris to catch the end of the Olympics.
The Spanish Royal Family has shared stories on Instagram showing that Queen Sofía was at Paris La Defense Arena to see the Spanish women’s water polo team take on Australia for the Gold Medal.
After a very exciting game, Spain was able to best Australia with a final score of 11-9 to take the Gold Medal. Queen Sofía was seen happily cheering as the team celebrated their victory and third Olympic Gold Medal in a row.
The Spanish Royal Family also celebrated the team’s historic win on X (formerly known as Twitter), saying ”Third time’s the charm! The Olympic #GOLD belongs to our women’s water polo team! The road was hard, but your team spirit makes you achieve glory. You have made history. Thank you for your immeasurable dedication!
The Spanish men’s water polo team will be playing Greece tomorrow although it’s not known whether Queen Sofia of Spain, born a Princess of Greece, will be in attendance.
