Happy Birthday to Queen Sirikit of Thailand, who is celebrating her 92nd Birthday today! The glamorous Princess who became the popular Thai Queen Consort for almost 70 years and is now the much respected Queen Mother, Queen Sirikit possesses an incredible jewellery collection, which includes these Emerald Flower Earrings!
These striking modern Emerald and Diamond Earrings, which are composed of a pear-shaped cabochon emerald suspended from a diamond flower with a central emerald, are of an unknown provenance, but were likely acquired by Queen Sirikit in the late 1960s, possibly from Van Cleef & Arpels.
In the late 1960s, Queen Sirikit was pictured wearing the Emerald Flower Earrings in a portrait that later appeared on the covers of several magazines.
A few years later, the Emerald and Diamond Flower Earrings were worn by Queen Sirikit with the heirloom Emerald Necklace for a Banquet.
In the 1990s, Queen Sirikit paired the Emerald Flower Earrings with an Emerald and Ruby Necklace for a Ceremony at the Grand Palace in Bangkok.
More recently, Queen Suthida debuted Queen Sirikit’s Emerald Flower Earrings during a Ceremony marking King Vajiralongkorn’s 70th Birthday in the Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall of the Grand Palace of Bangkok.
The following month, Queen Suthida wore Queen Sirikit’s Emerald and Diamond Flower Earrings for a Performance marking Queen Sirikit’s 90th Birthday at the Thailand Cultural Center
Queen Suthida also wore Queen Sirikit’s Emerald Flower Earrings for a Reception held at the Thai Embassy in London following the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla in 2023. Let’s hope we see these striking jewels worn again soon!
