Prince Ricardo De La Cerda
Today marks the anniversary of the Birth of the late Queen Fabiola of the Belgians, who was born on this day in 1928! Despite the fact that the Belgian Royal Family is known for having the smallest jewellery collection among the European monarchies, Queen Fabiola was able to assemble a decent jewellery collection, which included these Diamond Daisy Brooches!

At some point in the early 1970s, King Baudouin of Belgium acquired these three Diamond Daisy Brooches, one larger and two smaller, of which the two smaller could be worn as earrings, as a gift for Queen Fabiola.
Queen Fabiola often wore the Diamond Daisies through the 1970s and 1980s, sometimes wearing all three in her hair, though more often, two of the Daisies were worn as earrings while the larger one was worn in her hair, like for the Danish State Visit to Belgium in 1976.
The Diamond Daisy Brooch and Earrings were among the few jewels that Queen Fabiola wore in her widowhood, most notably worn for the Wedding Gala of her great-nephew, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg, and Countess Stephanie de Lannoy in 2012.
After the death of Queen Fabiola in 2013, the Diamond Daisy Brooches and Earrings passed to her niece, Princess Margaretha of Luxembourg and Liechtenstein, who wore them for the Wedding of her daughter, Princess Maria-Anunciata of Liechtenstein, in Vienna in 2021. Lets hope we see them worn again soon!
