A LUXURY Range Rover, believed to be used by the late Queen Elizabeth, has sold for an eye-watering price at auction.
The 2004 model has a particularly special history and includes a number of special modifications.

Historics Auctioneers, which handled the sale, claims that the owner has circumstantial information that leads them to believe that this car was used by the HM Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in London and Balmoral.
For that reason, the vendor has chosen to keep the car as original as possible in the hope that the provenance can be cemented.
The 2004 Range Rover was ordered in Epson Green with Sand (Oxford Leather) – and is powered by a 4.4 litre V8 engine.
Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicles confirmed that this Range Rover comes with a modified front grille, with covert blue lights, a switch pack (to power said lights), front and rear seat covers, a dog guard, load space mat, side steps and mudflaps.
Historics Auctioneers revealed: “This is all an addition to the standard car options which are found with the Heritage Certificate and include heated front and rear seats, non-UWB door lock frequency and tinted glass all around, to mention a few.
“The final piece of circumstantial evidence leading the vendor to believe this was indeed her majesty’s car are the two reasons he embarked on this voyage of discovery.
“He noticed one day when cleaning his car there were two areas where the car had filler and in odd places, one on the bonnet, two marks visible from the underside and one to the rear on the roof.”
These are believed to have been the mounting points for communications kit (at the rear), and the Queen’s Labrador mascot which was positioned on the bonnet.
