Queen Camilla has revealed that her recent chest infection became more serious when she developed pneumonia.

The Queen told guests at Buckingham Palace that she had been treated for viral pneumonia after becoming unwell in November.

Her Majesty didn’t attend hospital when the pneumonia developed but has been told by doctors to continue to prioritise her recovery.

The diagnosis was shared as The King and Queen welcomed the Amir of Qatar to Buckingham Palace for a State Visit.

King Charles had earlier been at Horse Guards Parade for the official welcome ceremony which Queen Camilla had had to miss because of her ongoing recovery.

Instead, The Queen met The King, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and his wife, Sheikha Jawaher, as well as the Prince and Princess of Wales at Buckingham Palace before heading inside for a private lunch.

It’s understood that Her Majesty is now over the pneumonia but continues to be affected by post viral symptoms. As a result, she will limit her attendance at the State Banquet being given for the Amir. Queen Camilla will miss the line up for the banquet but will take part in official photos and the meal itself.

The State Visit by the Amir of Qatar concludes on December 4th 2024.
