King Charles and Queen Camilla have met with a wide variety of people and organisations throughout their visits to Australia and Samoa. The Queen has continued to focus on promoting literacy and learning in particular with several engagements.

As her visit to Samoa began, Queen Camilla was able to visit a pastoral primary school, locally known as the aoga faifeau. The school begins at a young age and covers a wide range of skills and is considered a crucial factor in Samoa’s high literacy rates.

The Queen met with pupils who sang her some of the songs that they have been practising and then shared some of the other things that they have been learning with her.

While in Australia, Queen Camilla attended an event at Green Square Public Library in Sydney. She was able to meet with students from several local schools who have submitted to The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition and to award certificates to participants.

Some of the students also read some of their writings to Her Majesty and then were able to chat with her after.

Queen Camilla then met with Australian author Liane Moriarty, author of Big Little Lies, and Thomas Keneally, author of Schindler’s Ark, as well as many representatives from book clubs. The Queen presented them with bundles of books from previous seasons of The Queen’s Reading Room, her online book club.
