When Princess Anne-Marie of Denmark married King Constantine of Greece in 1964, the new Greek Queen received a Diamond Cross asa Wedding Gift from her parents, King Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid of Denmark.

Queen Anne Marie debuted her Diamond Cross on her Wedding Day in Athens, when it was paired with the Khedive of Egypt Tiara.

In the early years after her marriage, Queen Anne Marie wore the Diamond Cross quite frequently, like when it was suspended from her Diamond Sautoir on a State Visit to the Vatican in 1966, while it was all worn with Pearls for the Christening of Prince Nikolaos of Greece in 1969.

Queen Anne Marie wore her Diamond Cross to the Funeral of King Frederick IX of Denmark in 1972, and the Diamond Cross was agin worn for Queen Ingrid’s Funeral in 2000.

Continuing the link to her own Wedding, Queen Anne Marie wore her Diamond Cross and her Diamond Swan Brooch for the Wedding of Crown Prince Pavlos of Greece in 1995.

A decade and a half later, the Diamond Cross was worn by Queen Anne Marie for the Wedding of Prince Nikolaos of Greece in 2010.

Queen Anne Marie also wore her Diamond Cross Pendant for the Wedding of Prince Philippos of Greece in 2021.

The next year, Queen Anne Marie wore her Diamond Cross for the Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey, as well as the Committal Service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

More recently, Queen Anne Marie wore her Diamond Cross for the Funeral of King Constantine II of Greece at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Athens last year. With the Wedding of Princess Theodora coming up next month, there is no doubt we will see the Diamond Cross worn for years to come!
