The Diamond Bow Brooch is set with rose and old-cut diamonds set in 18k gold and silver (French and customs marks), circa 1850, which can also be worn as a pendant.
Like Princess Maria Pia’s Ivy Wreath Tiara, this Diamond Bow Brooch originates from her paternal grandmother, Queen Elena of Italy.
Princess Maria Pia most notably wore the Diamond Bow Brooch, which had a pear-shaped pearl pendant, for a Gala with Prince Bertil of Sweden and Princess Margaretha of Sweden and Denmark at some point in the mid-1950s.
Now, this Diamond Bow Brooch is going on Auction at Christie’s in Paris, with a pre-sale estimate of EUR 15,000 – EUR 20,000.
This brooch belonged to Elena of Montenegro, Queen of Italy (1873-1952), daughter of Nicholas I, King of Montenegro (1841-1921).
Princess Maria Pia of Savoy, born on September 24, 1934, in Naples, is the eldest daughter of King Umberto II of Italy and Princess Marie-José of Belgium. A member of the House of Savoy, she became, through her marriages, first Princess of Yugoslavia and later Princess of Bourbon-Parma.
