The Princess of Wales allegedly has a “secret code” to keep her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis on the best behaviour, according to a royal author.

Princess Kate has long been praised for her parenting style and while her children are generally well-behaved during royal engagements, they’ve also sometimes exhibited their cheeky side too.

Notably, Prince Louis is still a royal fan favourite following his cheeky antics during the late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.

Now Tom Quinn alleged in his book Gilded Youth, An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family – released last year – that whenever the future Queen senses that her children’s behaviour crosses a line, she will use a particular phrase to keep them in check.

Mr Quinn wrote: “When Prince Louis misbehaved at the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee for example, by sticking his tongue out at his mother, Kate’s reaction was praised by a team of expert commentators.

“She apparently used a secret code to calm the children, as she does on occasions – she simply says ‘Let’s take a break’.

“But as a former staffer explained, the children know these few words carry far more weight than we might imagine.”

Another parenting technique Princess Kate is famous for is the “sofa chat”.

Both the Prince and Princess of Wales are very hands-on parents and try to be as normal as possible and do most of the parenting themselves, thus they have certain rules in the house to keep their children disciplined.

One of the Walese’s techniques is that they have reportedly replaced the “naughty step” with the “sofa chat”.

The couple have replaced the “naughty step” with the “sofa chat”.

A source previously told the Sun: “The naughty child is taken away from the scene of the row or disruption and talked to calmly by either Kate or William.”

Another rule in the household reportedly is that no shouting is allowed.
