Prince William and Princess Kate made a royal visit to a school in Scotland last year where Kate made a surprising response to an inquisitive child.

When paying a visit to Burghead Primary School in Moray, Scotland, Catherine was seen telling pupils how much she liked the school.

The Princess of Wales gave out a high-five to one student and then went to speak to some of the other children. One of them innocently asked her who she was to which she humbly replied: “I’m married to William,” while pointing at the Prince of Wales.

During the school visit, Kate chose to not mention her royal titles when speaking with the pupils.

The princess is also known as the Duchess of Rothesay when in Scotland, which is a principal town on the Isle of Bute.

William also spoke to the children during the couple’s visit. One cheeky pupil asked the Prince his age to which he responded by asking what age the pupils think he is.

When they replied saying 57, the prince acted shocked, saying: “I’m not that old.” Another student asked William if he had brought any of the King’s Guards with him.

The chief executive of Outfit Moray, Tony Brown, commented on the royal couple’s visit: “It’s our 20th anniversary this year and what a great way to celebrate that milestone and look forward to another 20 years. Since the Covid pandemic, we’ve seen a significant rise in mental health issues with young people, particularly around anxiety and loss of confidence.

“Being outdoors in nature and doing physical things is really good for mental health. Getting as many young people out on our programmes as possible is a way of helping those that might be facing challenges.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales came dressed for the traditional weather Scotland has to offer. Kate wore a chic quilted jacket and chunky brown boots, while William sported a wax jacket and chinos.

Luckily the rain held off long enough for the couple to speak with the pupils outside before the school bell rang.

Moray Council leader Kathleen Robertson said: “I think it’s a real delight for the kids and a real treat for them to meet royalty in real life.”

Explaining how her memory of seeing King Charles in real life stuck with her forever, she said the schoolchildren meeting William and Kate will be a fond memory for them.
