Princess Kate will be spending Christmas at Sandringham with her husband, three children and the rest of the Royal Family this year after a difficult 11 months.

The princess’ festive plans were previously unknown after she was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, resulting in months of chemotherapy, which the princess finished at the end of the summer.

However, while she is still returning to royal duty gradually, the Princess of Wales is now reportedly set to spend the festive season with the Royal Family at Sandringham, hosted by the King.

According to The Mirror, the news was confirmed by royal sources, who said the King – who has also been undergoing treatment for cancer this year – is “delighted” to have William and Kate, along with their three children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine and Prince Louis, six, with him for Christmas.

The festivities will involve a Christmas dinner, Christmas Eve celebrations and the Christmas Day church service.

Other Royal Family members set to attend include Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie.

The festive season is set to be a happy occasion for the princess after her “brutal” year, a description used by Prince William when talking about his wife’s health scare earlier this month.

She will kick off the Christmas celebrations next Friday when she hosts her Together At Christmas carol service on December 6.

The event will be the fourth annual carol service held by the princess, with a theme this year of the importance of supporting one another through hard times.

Around 1,600 people are expected to fill Westminster Abbey for the service, including survivors of the Southport stabbing.

A Palace source said: “This year’s service provides a moment to reflect upon the importance of love and empathy, and how much we need each other, especially in the most difficult times of our lives. The service will shine a light on individuals from all over the UK who have shown love, kindness and empathy towards others in their communities.”

Members of the Royal Family are expected to attend the event including Prince William and the couple’s three children.
