Prince William and Princess Kate officially moved to Windsor in the late summer of 2022, shortly before the death of the late Queen Elizabeth II. The couple and their three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – now reside at Adelaide Cottage.
Located on the sprawling Windsor Great Park, Adelaide Cottage is a Grade-II listed house that was built in 1831. The home, which consists of four bedrooms, reportedly has a separate “abandoned” outhouse which, as reported by the Mirror, was previously “inhabitable”. The publication claims that the couple had planned to create an annexe-style property for extra space – though the specifics behind the project are unknown.
Speaking about the couple’s decision to move to Windsor, Kate said just last month at the St Patrick’s Day Parade at Wellington Barracks: “We were in London but moved there for more green space. It’s close enough to London, not too far away.”
As well as living in Windsor, George, 11, Charlotte, 9, and Louis, who will celebrate his seventh birthday later this month, all began attending Lambrook School in Berkshire in September 2022.
Previously speaking about their move to Windsor, royal commentator Robert Jobson claimed that the late Queen held a major influence over Kate and William’s decision to relocate.
In his latest biography ‘Catherine, Princess of Wales’, citing an aide, Mr Jobson states that William “knew his time with his grandmother was precious and he is delighted they, as a couple, made that decision.”
The author further notes, “Catherine understood that for William, as a future king, it was important for him to be geographically closer to the late Queen in her final months, when he was required to support both her and his father.
“It made a real difference. They were in regular contact, seeing each other in person and speaking on the phone several times a week, bringing them even closer.”
