The Princess of Wales and Queen Camilla appeared to prove Meghan Markle wrong after she once claimed that she had to “tone down” her wardrobe to blend in with other senior royals – and was banned from wearing the same colour as the Queen.
Kate, 42, and Camilla, 77, both sported matching green outfits during the festive walkabout in Sandringham on Christmas Day.
The royal ladies choice of outfits left royal fans delighted, with both Kate and Camilla completing their looks with black gloves, boots and handbags.
Mother-of-three Kate looked stunning in a forest green coat with buttons by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen – who is also famous for being her wedding dress designer.
Leading the walk alongside King Charles, Camilla looked festive in a moss green wrap coat.
Many royal fans expressed their love of their looks, one fan took to X to comment: “They look really good and I love that colour on The Queen.”
Speaking to their outfit choices, another wrote: “The Royal Family going to church and meeting the crowds this morning. Princess Catherine and Queen Camilla both opted for a festive green.”
Speaking in the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s bombshell Netflix docuseries in 2022, Meghan claimed that she wore “a lot of muted tones” during her time in the Royal Family to try to blend in with other senior royals such as the late Queen Elizabeth II and the Princess of Wales.
In the third episode of the documentary, Meghan says: “When I was in the UK I rarely wore colour. I wore a lot of muted tones. I also wore it so I could just blend in.
“I’m not trying to stand out here. I don’t want to embarrass the family.”
She added: “There was thought in [the colours I wore].
“To my understanding, you can’t ever wear the same colour as Her Majesty if there’s a group event. But then you also shouldn’t be wearing the same colour as one of the other more senior members of the family.”
