Princess Eugenie’s update on King Charles’s health during appearance to support Camilla | Royal | News

On an Easter engagement, the King’s niece, Princess Eugenie updated the public on her uncle’s health condition, stating he is “doing well”.

The Princess was asked by an ITV reporter about King Charles’s health status while she was conducting an engagement for a conservation charity founded by Queen Camilla’s late brother, Mark Shand.

Smiling, Princess Eugenie, 33, said to the reporter: “Thank you for asking. He’s doing well.”

She added: “He would also be very proud today because the Elephant Family is very close to his heart too.”

Eugenie is patron of the Elephant Family, a charity which was founded in 2003. According to the charity’s website, Mark dedicated the last 27 years of his life to saving the Asian elephant and approached the task “at full throttle”. He made his life’s purpose to bring this forgotten animal to the forefront of people’s minds.

To promote Queen Camilla’s late brother’s charity, Princess Eugenie read to young school children in Chelsea, and joined in with an abnormally large Easter Egg hunt, in honour of her “dear friend”.

King Charles’s niece chatted to children from Garden House School at Elephant Family’s Little Egg Hunt in Chelsea on March 21.

As told to the Daily Mail, the Princess, who was dressed in a patterned dress and a maroon coat said: “It was so important to be here because I have worked with the Elephant Family for so many years now and they are a charity so close to my heart, close to my family’s heart.”

The Easter egg hunt and art celebration was presented by the royal charity and Clarence Court Eggs, and brings together art and philanthropy. Over the next few weeks and running until after Easter, egg sculptures will be dotted around the posh Chelsea borough from March 20 until April 14 for everyone to enjoy.

The egg structures have been designed by world-renowned artists including Anya Hindmarch, Philip Colbert, Charlotte Colbert, Dan Baldwin, James McQueen, Bellerby Globe, Natasha Kumar and others.

Meanwhile, King Charles has busied himself holding private audiences at Buckingham Palace, while Queen Camilla is on a two-day trip to Northern Ireland, where she also confirmed Princess Eugenie’s statement, by telling well-wishers the King was also “doing well”.

The King is unable to join Camilla in Northern Ireland as he is undertaking a limited number of duties while he receives treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer.

He has postponed all public-facing engagements but is continuing with official duties behind the scenes, such as his weekly audience with the Prime Minister and desk work.
