Prince William took the revelation that his country house was haunted in stride, according to a paranormal historian.

The Prince and Kate, the Princess of Wales turned the Norfolk residence of Anmer Hall into their country pile in 2015.

They spent the majority of the coronavirus lockdown at the ten-bedroom house alongside Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

But in addition to their children and staff, William and Kate also shared their home with the ghost of a Catholic priest executed because of his faith, Richard Felix claimed.

Claimed William did not appear surprised upon learning of the unusual tenant and instead noted that it only added to the charm of the property.

Speaking on Hello! A Right Royal Podcast, Felix said: “When the Prince of Wales and Princess of Wales moved into Anmer Hall there was a ghost there of a Catholic priest that lived there and was hanged, drawn and quartered for high treason, and for some reason, has returned to his home.”

The historian noted that the voice of the ghost, believed to belong to Henry Walpole, had been heard through the property despite the priest having been executed in York.

He continued: “Although he was executed in York, they’ve actually heard his voice. And they have seen the ghost of what they say is a priest, wandering around Anmer Hall.

“Before the Waleses moved in, they were warned about the ghost and the comment was, I presume it was from Prince William, he said, ‘No old hall would be complete without a ghost, would it?'”

Royal properties have been repeatedly linked to paranormal sightings, more often than not of ghosts of former owners or inhabitants.

Former royal butler Grant Harrold told Express.co.uk aides have been passing on spooky tales of supernatural incidents for decades.

Harrold said: “Balmoral was said to have ghost happenings, as well as the other residences.

“I was told that Queen Elizabeth was in the library one evening and one of the corgis could sense something around the curtains next to the window.

“I can’t imagine the late Queen being phased though. But Sandringham was where her late father died, and I have found Sandringham to be an eerie house.

“It would always feel a bit strange when wandering around in the night. It has a lot of history behind it and it’s had a lot of royal deaths there.”
