Royal sources have confirmed that the Prince Of Wales’s absence from a memorial service for his godfather, King Constantine of Greece, was unrelated to the sudden death of Thomas Kingston on Sunday.

His Royal Highness had been due to deliver a reading at St. George’s Chapel, but Kensington Palace announced just before it began that he would no longer be able to take part.

The Palace said it was for personal reasons, although future engagements in the diary are thought to be unaffected.

It is understood that the unexpected death of Lady Gabriella Windsor’s husband, Thomas Kingston, is not the reason for the last minute change of plan.

Prince William was known to be close to Lady Gabriella and her family, with the news of Mr Kingston’s death coming as a shock.
