Prince William nets on Sheffield basketball court with Aston Villa’s Tyrone Mings

PRINCE William has taken inspiration from his late grandfather’s infamous f-bomb and ability to get things done.

Wills, 41, took his project to “end homelessness” to Northern Ireland, Aberdeen and Sheffield today.

He was told how the late Duke of Edinburgh persuaded politicians and civil servants to finance the building he was visiting in Belfast by asking them a very direct question: “Why don’t you just give them the money?”

At East Belfast Mission at the Skainos Centre, Rev Brian Anderson, recalled Prince Philip asking in 2008 why the building had yet to be built.

Rev Anderson told Wills: “He just immediately asked them: ‘Why don’t you just give them the money?’

“There was an expletive in there but I’m not going to say that. And three weeks later the money turned up.”

William replied: “That sounds like my grandfather.”

Hugging and speaking to Union Flag-waving well-wishers outside, he told them: “The Reverend has been telling me stories about my grandfather.”

He joined Aston Villa and England defender Tyrone Mings on a basketball court in Sheffield.

And in Aberdeen, the prince called on local leaders to “come together”, adding: “I really appreciate your willingness to help roll this out.

“It’s a really exciting partnership.”
