Prince William celebrated his 43rd birthday on Saturday, spending the day with his nearest and dearest. To mark the Prince of Wales’ birthday, a new photograph taken by Princess Kate in Windsor earlier this month was shared, with the sweet snap showing the future King sat on grass surrounded by the family’s new puppies.
In the sweet photograph, William can be seen stroking one of the cocker spaniel puppies, which the family dog Orla gave birth to earlier this year. The photograph was captioned: “Happy birthday! Love C, G, C, L, Orla and the puppies!”
While many people commented on how sweet the picture is, some royal fans also realised just what the photograph reminds them of.
On X, many fans couldn’t help but comment on how much the photograph reminds them of Prince William’s late grandmother the late Queen Elizabeth II, who was also seen over the years sharing sweet moments with her own dogs, who tended to be corgis.
One fan wrote on X: “The parallel in history. Like grandmother, like grandson.”
Another said: “He really will honour his grandmother, a legacy.”
Someone else wrote: “Being a dog lover, their unconditional love must help a monarch through many a rough day.”
Throughout her reign and her life, the late Queen was known for having a number of Welsh corgis.
It is believed she was gifted her first corgi Susan for her 18th birthday.
At the time of her death in 2022, Her Majesty still owned two Pembroke Welsh corgis Muick and Sandy, who now live with her son Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson at their Royal Lodge home in Windsor.
It is not known whether William and Princess Kate will be keeping all the puppies, which would no doubt delight the couple’s three children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, ten, and Prince Louis, seven.
