Prince of Wales at Colonel’s Review of Trooping the Colour

The Prince of Wales, Colonel of the Welsh Guards, (wearing the Order of the Garter) carried out the Colonel’s Review of Trooping the Colour on June 10th at Horse Guards Parade. The Colonel’s Review is the final evaluation of the parade before it goes before the King during the Trooping of the Colour on the 17 June. The Prince, as the previous Colonel of the Irish Guards, also attended last year’s Colonel’s Review.

This year, the honour of Trooping their Colour falls to the Welsh Guards and as Colonel of the Regiment, and the Prince led the final review for the first time. During the parade more than 1,500 soldiers and 350 horses carried out complex battlefield drill manoeuvres to a programme of music. The music will have a distinctly Welsh theme with new pieces of music composed by members of the Band of the Welsh Guards specifically for the occasion.
