Prince Harry reportedly said “yes ‘I’d love to” in a very blunt four-word response when asked if he wanted to move out of the UK – a year before meeting Meghan Markle.
According to royal correspondent Rhiannon Mills, Harry spoke about the prospect of moving away from the UK during a chat with her in 2015.
After meeting Meghan Markle in 2016, Harry and the former actress tied the knot just shy of two years later. The couple eventually made the decision to step back from royal duties and move to America in 2020.
Speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive Show, Rhiannon said: “I said to him, ‘Have you ever thought about moving away?’ He was like, ‘Yes, I’d love to. I’d love to move away. But I can’t because of what I need to do to support the Queen’.”
The expert claimed that the message “stuck with her” before explaining that the royal spoke to her away from the cameras.
Discussing the thought that Meghan made him move out of the UK, she said: “So whenever anyone says to me, that it was Meghan’s fault they left, that conversation always springs to mind because he always had it in him – this potential to jump.
“I think Meghan came along and said, ‘Hold my hand and we’ll jump together’.”
As reported by the Mirror, asking Harry whether he would like to have children, Rhiannon shared that Harry, at the time, said, “I’d love to have kids right now, but there’s a process that you have to go through”.
Harry has since welcomed two children with Meghan – five-year-old Archie in 2019 and three-year-old Lilibet in 2021.
This comes after a string of solo public appearances from both Harry and Meghan. The pair, who have frequently been pictured together at major events, have been seen separately on various occasions.
Meghan, 43, is set to make a solo appearance on December 4 at a glitzy Hollywood party honouring her friend, Tyler Perry.
Thousands of miles away in New York City, Harry be present at The New York Times DealBook Conference.
