In unearthed footage shared on Facebook last week, Prince Harry describes how the breakdown of his relationship with the Royal Family “never needed to be this way” and described how he believes it is easier for his family to treat the Sussexes as the “villains”.

During an in-depth sit-down with Tom Bradby for ITV, the Duke of Sussex, 40, discussed a range of subjects including his personal relationships and his feelings about his family.

In the 16-second clip shared by the ‘Royal Family Love’ Facebook page from the ITV interview, Prince Harry made an emotional plea to his father King Charles, admitting: “I would like to get my father back.”

However, he added: “It never needed to be this way. The leaking…the planting, I want a family, not an institution.

“They feel as though it’s better to keep us somehow as the villains.

“They’ve shown absolutely no willingness to reconcile.”

He added: “I would like to get my father back. I would like to have my brother back.”

During the original 90-minute interview with Tom Bradby which aired on ITV in the UK last year, the Prince goes into unprecedented depth and detail on life in and out of the Royal Family.

At around the same time, the Duke of Sussex also appeared in another prime-time TV interview with Anderson Cooper in the United States.

In a trailer for the show, the CBS interview was described as “revealing and explosive”.

During a 60-second clip shared online, Anderson asked the royal: “One of the criticisms that you’ve received is that well, okay, fine, you want to move to California and you want to step back from the institutional role, why be so public?

“You say, you tried to do this privately.”

Prince Harry claimed: “And every single time I’ve tried to do privately, there have been briefings and meetings and planting of stories against me and my wife.

“You know, the family motto is, ‘Never complain, never explain’. It’s just a motto.”

“There’s a lot of complaining and a lot of explaining,” the presenter pointed out.

While the latest social media post surrounding Prince Harry and his family gathers pace online, it has been revealed that the Sussexes have purchased a holiday home in the Portuguese resort where the Duke’s cousin Princess Eugenie resides during the summer months.

The royal properties are located in Comporta, just an hour’s drive south of Lisbon on Portugal’s west coast.

The Sussexes’ purchase of the property was said to have been prompted by Princess Eugenie’s husband Jack Brooksbanks’ job at the exclusive CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club.

Express.co.uk revealed earlier today that the resort’s properties have been designed by high end architecture and interior design firm Denton House which delivers “the world’s most glamorous residences and resort destinations”.

The resort is positioned on an unspoilt, picturesque stretch of beach in the Algarve and has become a popular holiday destination for the rich, thanks to it being relatively untouched by tourism.
