Prince Harry ‘must be feeling heat’ as Duke warned over memoir | Royal | News

Prince Harry “must be feeling the heat” according to one leading Royal Family expert, who warned of potential “consequences” from one major admission made in his bombshell memoir, Spare.

In 2020, the Duke of Sussex, along with his wife Meghan Markle relocated to Montecito, California. In his January 2023 memoir Spare, Harry admitted to past drug use – a revelation that has sparked a row over whether he disclosed this information on his US visa application.

Conservative think tank The Heritage Foundation has launched legal action to get his immigration files publicly released, arguing the case hinges on “whether the government provides special treatment for high profile celebrities”.

Typically when moving to the US, entrants to the country must respond to inquiries regarding past recreational drug use.

Ex-BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK! magazine: “Harry must regret having been so frank about drugs in his book. It really wasn’t a necessary part of the narrative although I understand that he was trying to explain his mental health issues.

“But admissions like that can have consequences and, right now, he must be feeling the heat. I think he’s fine as long as the Biden administration continues to back him.”

Speaking exclusively to Daily Express US in February, Donald Trump hinted that he could deport Harry from the US if he is re-elected as president, warning the Duke of Sussex he “will not protect him” like Joe Biden.

Ms Bond warned there is a risk of the situation escalating further if Trump wins back the White House and although she believes he won’t have to move from the US, “it must be an unnecessary worry and embarrassment” for the Duke.

She added: “Things could be very different if Trump became president again.

“In the end, though, I can’t imagine that the USA would actually throw him out. Lawyers would find some way around it, I think.

“But it must be an unnecessary worry and embarrassment for Harry at the moment.

“I suppose if the worst came to the worst, they would have to find somewhere else to live but I doubt that it would be the UK. Perhaps Canada would look kindly on them. But I don’t think it will come to that.”
