Prince Harry has recruited one of his former royal aides to the Invictus Games Foundation amid the ongoing controversy with Sentebale. In his latest column for the Daily Mail, diary editor Richard Eden shared that Duke of Sussex’s loyal former aide Nick Loughran has joined the team as a trustee of the Invictus Games Foundation.
The Invictus Games was founded by the Duke of Sussex in 2014 to stage sports events to help injured former servicemen and women. The Games confirmed the new hire on their official website.
The Games described Nick as a “communications specialist and co-founder of Integra, a consultancy focused in communications, reputation management and social impact for businesses and individuals”.
Speaking of the relationship between Harry and Nick, a source told Richard Eden that Harry “knows he can trust” Nick. Ahead of the new of his appointment, Nick was recently spotted joining the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at the Invictus Games in Canada in February.
Nick previously worked as the deputy communications secretary to the Prince and Princess of Wales until 2016, when he joined the public relations firm Freuds. Nick stepped down from his PR role just three months after he broke up with the Princess of Wales’s “Girl Friday,” Rebecca Deacon, and began courting Harry’s then-assistant, Clara Madden.
He married Clara in 2015, and the Palace stressed that his decision to step down was unrelated to the relationships. The Daily Mail also reports that Nick’s hire is “entirely coincidental” with the current problems with Sentebale.
Rebecca later married Adam Priestley at the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace. She was appointed the title of Extra Equerry by William in 2023.
