Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shared a sweet moment during the Invictus Games in Canada earlier this month and according to a PR expert, their move was “no accident”.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex headed to Vancouver, Canada, to attend the opening ceremony of the seventh Invictus Games on Saturday, February 8, and they packed on the PDA.

Harry and Meghan melted hearts after they shared a kiss in the stands.

Now, according to a PR expert, the Sussexes’s “strategic” move was a subtle way for them to hit back at rumours about their relationship, which sparked last year following their shift in their business approach – to focus on their individual interest separately.

Edward Coram James, CEO of British marketing agency Go Up, told Express.co.uk: “They’ve both been under constant public scrutiny and after everything last year with the relationship rumours, this kind of PDA is no accident.

“If they hadn’t done this, people would have immediately speculated that their relationship was in a bad place, which would have been the worst thing for the Netflix premiere. So, yes, this is strategic and clever.

“But it’s also kind of necessary for them to keep the focus where they want it.”

Last year, Harry talked about rumours regarding his relationship with Meghan during a summit in New York.

Harry said: “Apparently, we’ve bought or moved house 10, 12 times. We’ve apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So it’s just like, what?

“It’s hard to keep up with, but that’s why you just sort of ignore it.”

The couple stayed in Canada together for four days, before Meghan travelled back to California to look after their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Harry stayed throughout the duration of the tournament and gave a powerful speech at the closing ceremony last Sunday, praising all those who make the Invictus Games a “platform for positive change”.

The duke paid tribute to Canada’s First Nations people, Invictus athletes and their families as he spoke in front of 12,000 people who had filled the Rogers Arena in Vancouver to farewell the 2025 event.
