Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are eager to travel to any country that “caters to their ego”, a royal commentator has claimed ahead of their upcoming trip to Colombia.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are to visit the country at the invitation of the nation’s vice president, Francia Marquez, later in the year, travelling to the capital, Bogota, and coastal areas.

Royal podcast host and commentator, Kinsey Schofield, says the royal duo is keen to travel to a country that “panders to their narrative”.

She exclusively told Express.co.uk: “Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are trying desperately to be taken seriously as thought leaders. They will travel, no matter what the security concerns are, to any country willing to give them a platform, cater to their ego, and pander to the narrative they’re trying to create.”

Details of the couple’s Colombian itinerary have not been released by the Archewell Foundation, their charitable body, but the vice president said they would “engage in several activities” related to safeguarding young people online and in physical spaces.

Harry and Meghan received criticism for embarking upon a “royal” tour in Nigeria “all but in name” earlier this year – though many commentators hailed it as a success and a reminder of what the Firm has lost.

But the To Di For Daily podcast host believes no one is taking the couple seriously for their upcoming visit.

Kinsey said: “Harry and Meghan have become the butt of the joke in the States. Whether a comedian is taking a swipe at Prince Harry about his frost-bitten penis at a celebrity-filled award show or South Park is destroying the couple for their continued PR stunts… these two have to leave the country to prove that someone out there takes them seriously.”

The podcast host also thinks Meghan will discuss the topic of mental health during her tour, an area she is passionate about combatting and has been hailed for being so open about the taboo issue.

Kinsey said: “They will discuss mental health, navigating social media for children, Meghan will reference being bullied online and Prince Harry will find a way to mention Princess Diana.”

The couple, however, who stepped down as senior working royals in 2020, have been praised by their supporters for their commitment to assisting children with their mental health after a clip from the pair’s latest interview with CBS went viral online.

Highlighting the importance of understanding cyber abuse, Prince Harry and Meghan appeared in a brand-new interview for CBS News last weekend with host, Jane Pauley.

A segment of the interview shared on the popular social media platform, TikTok received attention from many Sussex fans, with one commenting: “I love to see them out doing great things.”

Harry and Meghan are set to discuss important cyber issues during their tour to Colombia, including “cyberbullying”, “online exploitation” and how mental health impacts these threats.

Express.co.uk has contacted a representative of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for comment.
