Prince Andrew is said to be “excited” about the upcoming release of ‘A Very Royal Scandal’ where he is portrayed by actor Micheal Sheen.
The upcoming Amazon MGM Studios series is based on Emily Maitlis’ perspective in securing an interview with Prince Andrew for BBC’s Newsnight to discuss the Jeffrey Epstein debacle.
The Duke of York is said to be so excited by the upcoming release of the Amazon MGM series that he’s reportedly planning a screening party for when the show airs on September 19 in the UK.
“Andrew was very excited when Scoop came out and he’s also looking forward to seeing how he’s been portrayed in the new one [A Very Royal Scandal],” said a source. “He’s planning to watch it like everyone else with a mini viewing party [at Royal Lodge].”
The news comes amid the Duke remembering his mother today in prayer and reflection with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.
King Charles marked the second anniversary of his mother’s death today at Crathie Kirk near the late monarch’s beloved Balmoral estate.
The monarch, 75, and his wife Queen Camilla were driven up to the church for Sunday service this afternoon.
The King donned a charcoal grey suit, teamed with a black and burgundy tie, while Queen Camilla, 77, wore a red and green tartan ensemble, complete with a matching hat.
A source told the Sunday Express today that the sovereign “misses his mummy terribly” and he was keen to mark her passing in private reflection and prayers. No other formal remembrance plans are in place for the day – as per convention.
As the Royal Family braces for the release of ‘A Very Royal Scandal’, one would have thought that Prince Andrew and Princess Beatrice, who will also be portrayed in the series, would be dreading the release of the drama, but sources say it’s to the contrary.
“Both Andrew and Beatrice are not so troubled by the release of this one,” said the source. “Beatrice was very troubled prior to the launch of Scoop because she thought it would ruin all the good work she had done, but it quickly became evident that the portrayal of her was respectful, so she is not in as much fear about this one [A Very Royal Scandal].”
The series is based on ‘Prince Andrew & the Epstein Scandal’ which aired on Newsnight on the BBC in November 2019, and also questioned the Prince’s relationship with Virginia Roberts Giuffre who alleged he sexually assaulted her.
The Duke consistently and vehemently denies the allegations. He reached an out-of-court settlement with Virginia, who had brought a civil case against the Prince for sexual assault. The settlement was not an admission of guilt and Andrew accepted no liability.
