Prince Andrew was recorded asking fans who had gathered up to see the Royal Family on Christmas why they “have their cameras on”, a new video has revealed.

The Duke of York was filmed casually chatting to members of the public who had stood in the cold outside St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham, as the royals attended Christmas mass.

In the video, which was shared by the Mail, Andrew can be seen chatting to a group of wellwishers who came from Spanding, Lincolnshire, before raising his eyebrows after one of them told him it took an hour to reach Sandringham.

At one point, the Duke asks “I find this fascinating. Why does everybody have their cameras on?” before the crowd burst into laughter and one of them tell him “to take a video”.

Andrew then asks jokingly “but why?” before another one answers: “We are not the Press”.

But at that point, King Charles’s brother adds: “It’s not about whether you are the Press or not. It’s just, why video it.”

When fans explain that it’s to capture a “lovely moment” with the Royals, Andrew objects: “But you ought to come and stand on this side and see what it’s like, all you have is cameras facing”, throwing a smile in the end, as the fans follow his lead.
