Princess Ingrid-Alexandra of Norway has taken a break from her work at the Engineer Battalion to join her parents and grand-parents for a government lunch.

King Harald, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit hosted a Christmas lunch for the members of the government at the Royal Palace in Oslo after the weekly Council of State Meeting.

The King of Norway hosts the annual lunch for members after the final council meeting of the year.

Since her eighteenth birthday, Princess Ingrid-Alexandra has been joining her father and grandfather at different events. As the future Queen of Norway, she will eventually host this meeting.

The princess began her military service in January 2024 at the Engineer Battalion at Brigade Nord. While she was originally meant to be finished at the end of the year, the Royal House announced in September that she has extended her service until April 2025.

Ahead of the lunch, Princess Ingrid-Alexandra and Crown Princess Mette-Marit also visited the Children’s and Youth Department at the Drammen Hospital in Oslo for St. Lucia’s Day.

St. Lucia’s Day is a beloved holiday tradition in the Scandinavian countries and it often includes visiting the young, the elderly and the infirm.

For the visit, the princess fittingly chose a casual burgundy coat, wide-legged navy trousers, a white collared shirt and white trainers ensuring that every colour on the Norwegian flag was represented.
