New bans in place at royal residences on demand of The King

The King has banned the use of wet wipes at royal residences in an effort to safeguard the environment.

It is reported that His Majesty has ordered the use of wet wipes to be abolished at all royal residences – including Buckingham Palace and Clarence House.

Wet wipes are known to cause severe harm to the environment, with the items being difficult to degrade.

Anne Simmons, a firmer cleaner at Buckingham Palace, told Plumbworld: “At the palace, wet wipes caused significant plumbing issues.

“Despite being advertised as ‘flushable,’ they don’t break down in the system like toilet paper does.

She continued: “This led to repeated blockages and costly plumbing repairs. It became clear that they simply weren’t worth the trouble.”

Other measures the 76-year-old monarch has taken to reduce his environmental impact include the turning down to the heated palace swimming pool.

He has also reportedly stopped using scented candles, and prohibits foie gras from being served on animal welfare grounds.
