Meghan Markle’s long-time friend Mindy Kaling has spoken about the Duchess of Sussex’s upcoming Netflix series.
Speaking about the eight-part series, With Love, Meghan – which is set to air on March 4 – Mindy shared that she had learnt tips about hosting children’s parties from her former actress friend.
Asked by Time magazine whether she learnt anything from being on the show, Mindy said: “Spoiler alert: I did. The theme was throwing a party for children. I love cooking, but I’m really not good at entertaining. “
Discussing a tip she learnt from Meghan – mum to Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three – Mindy added: “I don’t know anything about how you’re not supposed to use overhead lighting when people come over. You’re supposed to use little lamps.
“But Meghan just knows how to do that stuff. For kids’ parties I usually just go to the party supply store and get paper things, which I don’t judge and neither does she. But it was fun to learn simple ways to do a homemade kids’ party.”
Mindy – who appeared as one of the guests on the royal’s podcast series, Archetypes – added: “I think a misconception about Meghan is that she’s in any way fussy or has expectations of fanciness. She really is a down-to-earth person who knows a lot of fun tricks to make entertaining and cooking easier.”
Earlier this week, Meghan revealed that, alongside her series, she is set to launch her new lifestyle brand, As Ever, in “Spring 2025”.
Taking to Instagram, she also revealed why she changed the brand’s name from American Riviera Orchard to As Ever. Meghan told her followers: “Which there’s been a lot of curiosity about. Last year, I thought you know what, American Riviera, that sounds like such a great name, it’s my neighbourhood [and] its a name for Santa Barbara.”
Explaining the name change from ‘American Riviera Orchard’ to ‘As Ever’, she continued: “But it limited me to things that were just manufactured and grown in this area.”
