Meghan Markle ‘won’t bring Archie and Lilibet to UK’ | Royal | News

Meghan Markle is unlikely to bring children Archie and Lilibet to the United Kingdom, according to a royal expert.

That is despite sources claiming King Charles is “desperate” for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to bring their children to visit their extended family.

The relationship between Meghan, Prince Harry, and the Royal Family has been strained, with their two young children spending minimal time in the UK.

In an attempt to mend bridges, it’s believed that the King has extended an invitation to the Sussexes to spend the summer at Balmoral, reports the Mirror.

However, royal commentator Charlotte Griffiths doubts that Meghan will accept the offer.

Speaking on TalkTV, she said: “Even if Harry comes, I can’t imagine a world in which Meghan comes over with the kids, it’s really sad.”

Charlotte further suggested that Meghan would not be interested in a rural royal life at Balmoral. She added: “[Meghan] was never really very enamoured with the rural royal life and the sort of cold two bar radiators and the boot rooms.

“I mean can you imagine Meghan stalking in the highlands all summer? I can’t really to be honest.”

These comments follow reports that King Charles is eager to see his grandchildren.

An insider revealed to Page Six: “I can see Charles desperately wanting to see the children, and extending this olive branch to Meghan and Harry. He may decide that life is just too short.

“Balmoral is truly the perfect, restful place for a reunion. If he does issue an invite, then Harry and Meghan should surely agree to the visit.”

Harry and Meghan made the decision to step back from their Royal duties in 2020 and have since made Montecito, California their home. The couple has only returned to the UK for select events since their departure.

Their children, Archie and Lilibet, have only visited the UK once – for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee. Meghan hasn’t set foot in the UK since attending the Queen’s funeral in September 2022.

She chose not to attend King Charles’s Coronation in May 2023, leaving Harry to go solo.

While a trip to Balmoral may not be on the cards, it’s thought that the Duke of Sussex will return to the UK next month to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. Harry is due to deliver a speech at a special service at St Paul’s Cathedral in London on May 8.
