Meghan Markle savaged as new Netflix show slammed for being a ‘supermarket advert’ | Royal | News

Meghan Markle’s new lifestyle series for Netflix was branded similar to a “supermarket advert” by a royal expert, who said it looks “dull”.

The Duchess of Sussex’s new show will air on the streaming giant tomorrow, March 4.

With Love, Meghan will consist of eight episodes and will show the duchess share cooking, gardening and hosting.

In a trailer released earlier this year, Prince Harry’s wife can be seen making various dishes in front of her friends and guests, including actress Mindy Kaling and former Suits star Abigail Spencer, as well as chefs Roy Choi and Alice Waters.

Last April, when the show was first announced, it was said that it would “celebrate the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship”.

But royal author Robert Jobson was critical of the the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s latest offering on Netflix and said he wasn’t “overly inspired” by it.

He told The Sun: “I mean, it’s just like an advert for Waitrose or something. It doesn’t do anything for me.

“It seems that everyone wants her to fail, but it would actually be quite a good story if it was a success. But I’m not overly inspired by it.

“It’s not exactly going to be something I’m going to be wanting to tune into unless it was a professional thing to do. It’s just a little dull.”

Mr Jobson questioned whether the new show would be a success, saying that the Sussex couple had previously acquired “big numbers with their royal bashing books and their royal bashing documentaries”.

He said: “Now they’re trying to do something, I suppose, that they tell us is all positive, and it just doesn’t seem particularly inspiring to me.”

In an Instagram post along with the trailer for her new show, Meghan said about the launch: “I have been so excited to share this with you! I hope you love the show as much as I loved making it.”
