Meghan Markle cosies up to new pals

Meghan Markle has reportedly become “very close” to a host of new friends in the US – including Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd and IT Cosmetics co-founder Jamie Kern Lima.

Reflecting on the Duchess of Sussex’s inner circle, a source previously told US Weekly that the former actress has “a great group of friends who are all successful in their own ways who she really trusts”.

As well as her newfound friends, Meghan is also thought to share close friendships with Serena Williams and Ellen DeGeneres – as well as a group of local mums in Montecito whom she sees regularly.

Ms Lima, who reportedly sold IT Cosmetics to L’Oreal for £1billion ($1.2b) in cash, is said to have pocketed around £310million from the deal.

Whitney. 35, launched the online dating platform back in 2014. As of May 2023, Forbes estimated her net worth at £386 million ($510m).

Meghan previously discussed her female friendships with Variety magazine in 2022. During a chat with the publication, the mother of two said: “The power of sisterhood and female support can never be underestimated”.

Meghan’s friendship with Serena Williams also dates back to 2014, with the royal reflecting on their bond on her former blog The Tig.

The 43-year-old wrote: “We hit it off immediately, taking pictures, laughing and chatting – not about tennis or acting, but about good old-fashioned girly stuff. So began our friendship…

“She quickly became a confidante I would text when I was travelling, the friend I would rally around for her tennis matches, and the down-to-earth chick I was able to grab lunch with a couple of weeks ago in Toronto.”

As well as her fellow mum friends and ones in the spotlight, Meghan also has two old Universty friends that she was once spotted with at Wimbledon in 2019 – Lindsay Roth and Genevieve Hillis.

Lindsay graduated from Northwestern University’s School of Speech and Medill School of Journalism – and has remained close to Meghan ever since.

Genevieve is also Northwestern alum. She and Meghan met when they were sorority sisters in the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
