A future collaboration between Meghan Markle and Nicola Peltz would see one woman benefiting more than the other, PR experts have claimed. The Duchess of Sussex found herself in the spotlight again after reports of a “secret summit” involving her and Prince Harry and Brooklyn Beckham – the eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham – and his wife Nicola emerged.
Brooklyn, 26, and Nicola, 30, were reportedly unexpectedly invited to a catered dinner party at the Sussexes’ Montecito home last week, which was attended by a select few of their friends, including Paramount CEO Brian Robbins and his wife Tracy. The news caused sensation as the Sussexes used to be close with Brooklyn’s parents but are now reported to have parted their way, while the Beckhams themselves are in their own ongoing feud with their son and his wife.
Now PR experts said that Ms Peltz could be eyeing a “lucrative brand collaboration” with Meghan that would see her benefit “significantly more” than the duchess.
The two women could reportedly benefit from their links to the world-famous families they married into, with reports suggesting various names for their partnership, including “Beckham x Sussex”, “Meckham” or “Sussexham”.
PR expert Sean O’Meara, of Essential Content, said that Ms Peltz would benefit more than the duchess, explaining to the Mail: “Meghan is big on teaming up with other women, and she and Nicola clearly have a lot in common.
“And while there’s no reason to suggest that the support Meghan and Harry have been showing to the Beckhams is anything other than genuine friendship, any sort of project or campaign the two embark on would generate plenty of interest.”
He added that Ms Peltz was “well known in her own right as an actress as well as being perceived by those unfamiliar with her career as ‘Brooklyn Beckham’s wife’, but she’s nowhere near Meghan in terms of profile or star power.
“She would likely benefit more from a collaboration than Meghan. And I think given Meghan’s run of troubled projects, Netflix series and Spotify podcast, she’s going to need to be very selective about any future partnerships.”
Meanwhile, Andy Barr, of Season One Communications, told the outlet: “Meghan clearly has the upper hand when it comes to profile, a solid social media fanbase and has global appeal with the obvious exception of Great Britain. In relative terms, the Sussex brand is in its infancy and as such it can afford to test the water with collaborations.
“For Meghan and Harry there appears to be minimal long term risk associated with signing any partnership with Nicola and Brooklyn, especially if the target audience is mainly in America.”
