King Frederik speaks of love of Greenland and is more than prepared to show it

Although his trip was delayed by a day, King Frederik of Denmark headed to Greenland and spoke of how important it is to him as he visited some of its most important areas.

The trip comes amidst an ongoing row involving loud statements from US President, Donald Trump, about annexing Greenland which is an autonomous country in the realm of Denmark.

King Frederik arrived in Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, wearing his love of the country on his chest, quite literally. Ever the diplomat, Frederik was wearing a jacket with both of the flags of Denmark and Greenland next to his heart.

He was accompanied by the Prime Minister of Greenland, Jens-Frederik Nielsen.

The pair were able to enjoy Greenland’s spectacular scenery, with a cruise through Nuup Kangerlua, one of Greenland’s longest fjords.

King Frederik was hosted for a dinner at Hans Egede’s House, considered to be the oldest house in Greenland (dating back to 1728).

His Majesty lined up meetings with newly elected Greenlandic government while visiting and he was able to enjoy a traditional Greenlandic coffee break to meet locals.

President Trump has made several comments since taking office in January about acquiring Greenland for the United States for security and resource-related reasons. American Vice-President JD Vance visited Greenland in March, though he was only able to visit the US military base.
