King Frederik and Queen Mary have arrived in Berlin for a two day State Visit to Germany.

German President, Franz-Walter Steinmeier, officially welcomed the Danish king and queen to Germany with a ceremony at Schloss Bellevue.

At the ceremony, King Frederik and President Steinmeier jointly inspected the Guard of Honour.

King Frederik and Queen Mary were then welcomed inside to officially sign the guestbook. Joined by Danish Foreign Minister, Lars Lokke Rasmussen, they spent time informally chatting with the German President and his partner, Elke Budenender.

The first day of the State Visit includes all the traditional elements including a visit to the German parliament at the Reichstag and a State Dinner in the evening.

Queen Mary chose a light blue and tan ensemble for the first day of the visit. She wore a pale blue wrapped blouse and a midi-skirt with a tan and blue cane pattern. To finish the look, she chosen a robin’s egg blue open coat and co-ordinating wrapped headband.

Their Majesties are not the only royal visitors to Germany this week, though.

King Frederik and Queen Mary will be joined by Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden and Crown Prince Haakon Magnus and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway at a celebration and dinner for the 25th anniversary of the Nordic embassy complex in Berlin.
