King Felipe gets in the party spirit as he watches Spain win the Euros alongside Infanta Sofia

King Felipe and Infanta Sofia were in Berlin for the finals of the Euros and it was the Spanish monarch who came out smiling as he handed the famous trophy over to his team after another emphatic win that puts them into the competition’s history books.

Spain and England faced off on Sunday for the final match of the 2024 Euros. King Felipe and Infanta Sofia arrived in Berlin a few hours before the match. The Spanish king is well known for his love of football and his younger daughter is just as avid. Last year, she travelled to Australia with her mother, Queen Letizia, to see Spain’s women win the World Cup.

The first goal of the match did not come until the 47th minute when Spain’s Nico Williams’ goal opened the second half.  Cole Palmer’s goal in the 73rd minute levelled the game only minutes after he had come on as a substitute. Spain’s substitute Mikel Oyarzabal scored in the 86th minute to win the match for Spain.

King Felipe and Infanta Sofia looked to be enjoying the game with both watching animatedly through. The Spanish King wore a bright red tie to show support for Spain while the Infanta paired red trousers with a loose white blouse.

Felipe and Sofia were not the only royals to attend the match, though. The Prince of Wales and Prince George were at the match to support England with red and white striped ties. All four royals met before the match and shared a photo (with UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin) on X.

Prince William shared a message on X after the match, saying ”This time it just wasn’t meant to be. We’re all still so proud of you. Onwards England. W.”
