King Charles and Queen Camilla are reportedly set for a huge “charm offensive” tour to America to help keep relations positive between the UK and the US under Donald Trump’s presidency.

The King and Queen are expected to visit America and Canada next year on an official royal visit, with planning for the tour reportedly already underway, according to The Mirror.

While it has not been officially confirmed by the Palace or the White House, sources involved in the planning say discussions between the UK and US governments have already begun, with an official invitation expected soon.

The tours will reportedly most likely take place in Spring next year, marking the King’s first visit to Canada and the US as a reigning monarch.

A government source reportedly told The Mirror: “This will undoubtedly be the biggest tour of the King’s reign so far, a huge undertaking for a British monarch to be hosted in the United States.”

They continued: “Americans love the British Royal Family and it is a great opportunity for both sides to reaffirm the special relationship in such an important and historic year for the US.

“The King has been especially keen to travel to Canada, a country and people he holds so much affection for, it will be a charm offensive on both sides.”

The Palace has not confirmed the trip, which is reportedly not yet set in stone in the diary.

At the moment, the King and Queen will be busy preparing for their first royal tour of the year which is set to take place in April.

The couple will undertake a state visit to Italy and the Vatican where they will visit the Holy See – the government of the Catholic Church which operates from Vatican City – and have a historic meeting with the Pope to celebrate the 20215 Jubilee year.

The King and Queen are also expected to visit various Vatican landmarks during the tour, including the Sistine Chapel.

In Italy, the royal couple will undertake various engagements in Rome and Ravenna to celebrate the strong relationship between Italy and the UK.

The tour comes after the couple completed a 10-day tour of Australia and Samoa last October, which was described as a “perfect tonic” for the King who is still undergoing cancer treatment following his diagnosis last year.
