King Charles could decide to reveal what type of cancer he’s got in the future, as the monarch remains positive over the course of his treatment, a royal source has claimed.
The monarch shocked royal watchers worldwide in February, when, after a planned operation for an enlarged prostate in London, he revealed he was diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer.
Charles’s decision to make his diagnosis public was a royal first as members of the family did not traditionally disclose their health matters publicly.
One source told the Sun: “Never say never. There are no current plans to reveal the cancer.
“But if he felt that the time was right…”
The King took a three-month break and postponed his public-facing duties during that time as he battled his illness.
He made a triumphant return later in April, with those close to him noting the overall optimism following how well his treatment is going.
They told the outlet that while the monarch is “not yet out of the woods”, there is “great optimism” and treatment has gone “better than anyone would have thought”.
The insiders claimed: “It wasn’t like he was totally broken and nor are we totally out of the woods yet as treatment continues.
“Treatment has gone better than anyone would have thought even in their most optimistic thoughts.”
One source close to the monarch added: “The sun wasn’t shining in February but it is shining now”.
Charles has been all smiles this summer as he attended several engagements and garden parties as his treatment continues.
Today, the King arrived at the gates of Balmoral to inspect the Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland.
The ceremony marks the formal welcome of the monarch to the Aberdeenshire castle, where he and the Queen will be joined by other members of the Royal Family for their summer holidays.
