King Charles is feeling ambitious and wants to ride his horse at Trooping the Colour, says | Royal | News

King Charles is planning to “lead from the front” at this year’s Trooping the Colour, as long as it’s “with the agreement of royal doctors,” reports The Daily Beast.

Trooping the Coulour, also known as the King’s Birthday Parade, is in honour of the sovereign.

Charles’s actual birthday is on November 14, but there is a tradition put in place to celebrate the reigning monarch’s birthday in June, to take advantage of the warm weather, and so the public can take part in the celebration.

It was already confirmed that Charles planned to attend the event, but at that time, it was made known he would not be on horseback for fear of injury, but it appears there’s been a change of heart.

“He’s been quite clear that he is raring to go,” says an insider, when speaking to The Sun.

While it isn’t mandatory for him to arrive on horseback, his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II “did stand down when she was 60,” says the source, but if the royal doctors sign off on this, “he wants it to happen.”

Charles is scheduled to return to work next month, which was announced by Buckingham Palace on Sunday, April 28.
