King Charles is ‘busy redecorating’ and has added a special element to Sandringham House  | Royal | News

King Charles has installed a “health garden” at Sandringham House, says a well-placed royal expert.

According to royal journalist and editor Kerry Parnell, it comes as the King has been doing “redecorating” while staying at Sandringham House – both inside and out.

“Sandringham has long been a place of healing, for everyone from the King to the late Queen and Prince Philip,” says Ms Parnell.

In her weekly newsletter, The Royal List, she writes: “The King has been busy redecorating during his convalescence, updating the interiors, as well as putting in new ‘health garden’ of ‘healing yew tree hedging’ and other plants in front of the house.”

A healing garden is a green space dedicated specifically to improving health outcomes.

According to the royal writer, Norfolk is “far enough away to find peace” but not too far from London for treatment.

It appears Charles chose Sandringham as his sanctuary for the same reasons as those who came before him.

Parnel added: “Now owned by the King, it was again Sandringham which provided the refuge for the monarch on his cancer diagnosis in February and he based himself in Norfolk for his recovery period, travelling to London for treatment.”

Charles takes a helicopter from Sandringham to Buckingham Palace when he needs to make a visit to London.
