King Charles III presents the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design – Royal Central

King Charles III has presented the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design at a ceremony in London.

This year’s winner is LABRUM London, founded by Foday Dumbuya.

The award recognises the place that design and fashion has in the UK’s business landscape as well as its culture.

The King handed over the award for the first time at a special event hosted by the British Fashion Council in London.

LABRUM London fuses Western African style and stories with European and American influences. Its founder has described the fashion focus as being narration of untold stories through fashion.

His Majesty also met designers being supported by the British Fashion Council as they develop their careers, through scholarships and awards.

There was also a spotlight on sustainable fashion at the event.

The Queen Elizabeth II Award was established in 2018 with Queen Elizabeth II presenting it in its inaugural year.
