King Charles hosts Prince’s Trust winners at Buckingham Palace amid celebrity guests – Royal Central

The King welcomed the 2023 winners of The Prince’s Trust Awards to Buckingham Palace this week together with a number of celebrity ambassadors.

The event followed the awards ceremony at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on 16 May. The King hosted the reception to celebrate the amazing achievements of this year’s winners. The Awards are to recognise young people who have gone against the odds to improve their chances in life while creating a positive impact on their local community.

There are eight UK Award categories young people can participate in: Young Achiever Award, Volunteer of the Year, Entreprise Award, and Education Achiever Award. There is also the Breakthrough Award, Rising Star Award, Community Impact Award, and lastly, the Young Change Maker Award. For the International Award, there are three categories including The Prince’s Trust Group Sustainability Award, the Global Young Achiever Award, and Amal Clooney Woman’s Empowerment Award.

The ceremony also celebrated and honoured the Global Young Achiever Award. The Award recognises the outstanding achievement of a young person on a Prince’s Trust programme around the world. British Vogue Editor-in-Chief, Edward Enniful OBE presented this year’s award to Faith from Nigeria. Faith left school at the age of 14 to work and support her family. A brave move as she had no qualifications beyond her school certificate. In her home city of Lagos, she struggled to earn enough to meet her needs.

After taking part in the Prince’s Trust International programme, she immediately landed a job as an events co-ordinator with a catering company. In addition, she now leads teams of university graduates on a regular basis.

Winners not only had a chance to mingle with The King but also a number of celebrity ambassadors. This includes Ant and Dec, Stanley Tucci, Charlotte Tilbury, Nicola Adams, Nile Rogers, Holly Willoughby, and Stephen Graham.

The Trust was founded by the then Prince of Wales in 1976. Since it began, more than a million people across the UK have been helped. The Trust is now represented in more than 20 countries helping young people around the world build sustainable and meaningful careers.
