King Charles and Queen Camilla lead procession at Royal Ascot | Royal | News

King Charles and Queen Camilla beamed as they led the carriage procession at Royal Ascot today.

The royal couple appeared in high spirits as the bright sunshine and warm weather returned for the fourth day in a row.

Today, the King and Queen were joined in the first carriage by JCB manufacturer Lord Bamford and his wife, while Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor followed behind.

In the third carriage sat General Sir Patrick Sanders and his wife Lady Sanders and Peter and Sarah Troughton.

The final carriage comprised of Dame Darcey Bussell, her husband Angus Forbes and horse trainer Henry de Bromhead and his wife, Heather.

The King and Queen will watch the Sandringham Stakes with much anticipation later on, as their horse Hard to Resist is racing.

But the horse is not one of the favourites, with odds of 50-1.

Yesterday, their thoroughbred Gilded Water placed in 12th.

The couple took on Queen Elizabeth II’s thoroughbreds and last year had their first Royal Ascot winner, when Desert Hero triumphed in the King George V Stakes. The gelding will be racing tomorrow.

Among the celebrities presenting the racing prizes will be actress Dame Maureen Lipman and the author Dame Jilly Cooper.
