King Charles’ 75th birthday plans revealed – including ‘private’ family dinner for his closest friends & family

PLANS for King Charles’ 75th birthday celebrations have been revealed – and it’s going to be a low-key affair.

The monarch is said to have vetoed any major pubic celebration and wants any events to be “minimal” and “family orientated”.

Over the past 12 months, the nation has celebrated Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, as well as marking her death and funeral last September and Charles’ coronation in May.

Although these major events have been well-received they have also involved a significant amount of planning as well as costing millions of pounds, putting a strain on already stretched public finances.

A source told the Daily Mail: “His Majesty is not given to fuss over such things as it is but he is [also] acutely conscious there have been many set-piece royal events of late and his firm thinking is that events to mark his birthday will be minimal.”

Another Palace insider said: “There’s been enough fly-pasts and marches.”

His Majesty is thought to want to focus on business as usual, undertaking public engagements, and maybe a cake and a few words of celebration in the run up to his birthday on November 14.

Reports indicate there could be a private dinner, organised by Queen Camilla for friends and family at Highgrove, his Gloucestershire country home.

Camilla, who was then Duchess of Cornwall, revealed in 2013 when her husband turned 65 that Charles was a “workaholic” and “not one for chilling”.

She said at the time: “He never, ever stops working. He’s exhausting. No matter what the day, he is always working.

“I am hopping up and down and saying, ‘Darling do you think we could have a bit of, you know, peace and quiet, enjoy ourselves together?’ But he always has to finish something.

“He is so in the zone … you are outside … but he is always there in the zone, working, working, working…. he’ll stick with his papers, I know he will, while I am trying to sing Happy Birthday. I might just even have to hold up a sign saying ‘Happy birthday, darling’.”

It comes as it was revealed a BBC film documenting Their Majesties’ first year is set to be a key feature of the corporation’s Christmas schedule.

Buckingham Palace is said to have granted “unprecedented” access to the royals and their household.

The King and Queen have not been interviewed on camera, with a source saying: “This is not Netflix, you know.”

The quote is said to be in reference to the Sussexes docu-series last year which unleashed thinly veiled attacks on the Royal Family and media.

Other family members are thought to have spoken to the BBC with the broadcaster hoping to get the Prince and Princess of Wales speaking on camera.
