The Grand Ducal Court of Luxembourg has released a video on Twitter with a short interview that Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume gave FreeLens TV about the birth of his second son, Prince Francois.

The clip appears to have been shot in the hospital where Princess Stéphanie gave birth on Monday and contains a few more details about the happy event.

First and foremost, the Prince revealed that both mother and baby are doing well and that the baby is already showing a very sweet nature to him. He also spoke about the unique joy of bringing a new life into a family.

Prince Guillaume then told the interviewer that, once they realised that it was time to go to the hospital, Grand Duke Henri “took the car,” picked big brother Prince Charles up from their home and took him to spend a day with his paternal grandparents.

In the meantime, the Hereditary Grand Ducal Couple was concentrating on the birth. And the Prince revealed that it was also his parents that took Prince Charles to the hospital to meet his baby brother for the first time. The moment, he said, was one of the biggest joys a family can share.

The Prince then was asked to compare the two birth experiences, given that Prince Charles was born in the middle of the pandemic restrictions, in May 2020. He said that both events were very happy, but that the health safety restrictions preventing hospital visitors the first time around made it an even happier moment when, this time, they were able to receive family members in their hospital room.

Before finishing the interview, which was conducted entirely in Luxembourgish, Prince Guillaume took a moment to thank all of the hospital team that assisted with the birth of baby Prince François, saying: “They handled it very professionally, but also with a lot of compassion and love.”

Prince François Henri Luis Marie Guillaume was born in the Grand Duchess Charlotte Maternity Hospital on Monday, 27 March, at 10:04 am. Ninety minutes later, the announcement was made, and congratulations started pouring in from royal watchers and government officials alike.
