The couple then enjoyed a whirlwind courtship before getting married not long after they had met.

As of May 2023, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been husband and wife for five years.
The couple began dating in July 2016, and it is reported that after just two dates, the “already-smitten royal” decided to whisk the American actress off to Botswana.
The pair enjoyed five nights camping under the African stars, and Prince Harry later told the BBC he believed the “stars were aligned” when he met her.
The royal pair have always declined to name the mutual friend who introduced them on their blind date.
Shortly after their engagement was announced in 2017, it was revealed the highly-anticipated wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan would take place on May 19, 2018.
The Royal wedding was then held at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, which is where Harry was christened when he was three months old.
On the day, the newlyweds received rapturous applause as they emerged from the castle following a ground-breaking multi-cultural ceremony complete with a gospel choir and an American bishop.
Prince William and Kate Middleton’s only daughter Princess Charlotte was chosen as one of Meghan’s bridesmaids.

A beautiful black and white photo of the couple’s happy day was posted to their Instagram on May 19, 2022, simply captioned “Happy 5th Wedding Anniversary”.
Five years is traditionally celebrated with a gift of wood.
To commemorate their first anniversary in 2019, they shared never seen before images from their big day on social media, and wrote: “Thank you for all of the love and support from so many of you around the world.
“Each of you made this day even more meaningful.”
