The King’s stepson, Tom Parker Bowles, has shared that the king is a tough man in one very important regard and can be rigid with his family on one particular issue.
Parker Bowles, 49, has shared some secrets from The King and Queen’s kitchen with the release of his new book, Cooking and the Crown: Royal Recipes From Queen Victoria to King Charles III.
The King is reportedly very tough on banning any and all food waste in his kitchen, as well as insisting that all food packaging must be properly recycled.
As shared in The Mirror, Tom Parker Bowles said ”There is no waste, everything is recycled, everything is used from the table…If anything is leftover from the dinner, that will be made into something else or appear the next day. Nothing’s allowed to be thrown out.”
Although he has a strict approach, King Charles follows this approach himself.
The King has made tackling the issue of food waste a high priority. He launched the Coronation Food Project before his May 2023 Coronation. The “project to mark His Majesty’s 75th birthday seeks to bridge the gap between food waste and food need across the UK” through three major focuses: saving any possible surplus foods, supporting organisations who can distribute surplus food more quickly, and providing funding to organisations working in these areas.
Tom Parker Bowles also said that King Charles’ tough attitude had helped him with his recent cancer diagnosis, telling Vogue that ”he’s a great man and a tough man, and you’ve just got to get on with it. Of course, anyone who has someone they love with cancer is going to worry.”
