Staff working at at a Belfast hospital have been ‘disciplined’ after a plaque unveiled by the Duke of York went missing.

According to the BBC, a plaque, which was unveiled by the Duke in 1986, went missing back on 2022.

Prince Andrew visited Belfast City Hospital and unveiled the plaque to commemorate the official opening of the new hospital building.

However, at around the same time the prince was facing civil action in the US over sexual assault allegations, the item was removed.

A spokesperson for the The Belfast Trust told the BBC that the plaque has since been recovered, and that staff “behaviours” have been addressed “in accordance with trust disciplinary procedures.”

No decision has been made over whether the plaque will be reinstalled.
