Home in Prince Andrew’s garden that was the late Queen’s favourite | Royal | News

In the garden of his beloved home, Royal Lodge, Prince Andrew has one tiny home that the late Queen Elizabeth II loved as a child. Holding a special place in her heart, the late Queen loved spending time at Y Bwthyn Bach – or The Little House – which was gifted by the people of Wales.

The Little House was a miniature home, which was also much loved by her late sister, Princess Margaret. The house stands at just 22 feet wide and 15 feet high – and was built by architect Edmund Charles Morgan Willmott. Now located at Andrew’s home, it was gifted to the late Queen on her sixth birthday in 1932. It comprised of a living room, a kitchen, a bedroom and a bathroom – and also came complete with electric lighting and running water.

An insurance policy for the house was taken out in February 1932 under the name of Princess Elizabeth of York.

The miniature home has been much loved by the generations that followed, also used by the likes of King Charles and Princess Anne, as well as Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

With Andrew and Sarah Ferguson – who still lives with her ex-husband – now grandparents, the home is likely now a playing area for their own grandchildren. The former couple are grandparents to Eugenie’s sons, August, four, and Ernest, one, as well as Beatrice’s daughters, Sienna, three, and baby Athena.

The couple are also step-grandparents to Beatrice’s stepson, 9-year-old Wolfie.

Pictures of the little playhouse were featured in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix docuseries in 2020.

It is not clear when the pictures of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex inside the little “Welsh Cottage” were taken.

One picture shows Meghan, 43, and Harry, 40, laughing as they sit on children’s chairs drinking from a royal tea set. The photographs appear to have been professionally taken.
